HMAS Australia I

HMAS Australia I was an Indefatigable-Class battlecruiser  (1 of 3 built by the Royal Navy) commissioned in 1913 for the RAN.
 
Being the first flagship of the RAN and the only Captial ship to ever see service in the RAN, it was tasked at the beginning of the great war to search and destroy the german-occupied islands in the pacific and to destroy their fleet. 
 
moving to operate the main stage of WW1 in the North sea along the Royal Navy's grand fleet. being assigned as the Flagship of the 2nd Battlecruiser Squadron. conducting patrols and exercises, never saw any major action due to time spent in repairs after colliding with her sister ship HMAS New Zealand caused the ship to miss the battle of Jutland. 
 
Australia returned to its home waters in 1919. Due to the Washington navy treaty, she was to be scuttled as she was counted as a part of the Royal Navy's capital ships.  
 
being scuttled on ANZAC Day 1924, being towed beyond the shores of Sydney, and scuttled by her own crew and volunteers.
