HMAS Sydney I is a Chatham- class light cruiser. commissioned in 1913. 

 

HMAS Sydney was the first Warship to be fitted with a single Aircraft launch system and the first to use it successfully in an enemy encounter. She was also the first Australian ship to fire upon an enemy ship (SMS Emden). later serving in the Atlantic theatre in the battle with Zeppelin L43.

 

HMAS Sydney I was placed in reserve after the great war till 1923, being scrapped 1929.
